Job Overview
Unitrans is looking for a General Worker to support cleanliness, housekeeping, waste management and safe working conditions across its logistics operations.
The successful candidate will work in areas such as workshops, loading zones, offices, stores and operational yards. The role may involve working around trucks, tractors and other heavy equipment, so safety awareness and the correct use of PPE are important.
Who Should Apply?

- Have Grade 10–12, with Grade 12 preferred
- Have cleaning, housekeeping, agricultural or logistics experience
- Are physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Can work around heavy machinery safely
- Are reliable and able to work independently
- Can work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10–12 preferred
- 1–2 years’ cleaning experience in an industrial, agricultural or logistics environment
- Basic cleaning or safety training will be advantageous
- Experience working around heavy equipment will be advantageous
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and waste handling
- Ability to use basic cleaning equipment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong safety awareness
- Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning and Housekeeping
- Clean loading zones, workshops, offices and ablution facilities
- Remove mud, dust, leaves, cane residue, oil spills and other debris
- Clean workshop floors, tools, benches and storage areas
- Keep walkways, platforms and machinery access areas clear
- Maintain clean areas around fuel stations, wash bays, parking areas and yards
Waste Management
- Collect and dispose of waste according to site procedures
- Empty bins and replace liners
- Keep waste areas clean and free from overflow
- Transport waste to designated disposal areas
- Assist with recycling and safe disposal of contaminated materials
Safety
- Follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Keep floors, ramps and walkways clean and safe
- Identify and report hazards such as spills, broken glass and damaged flooring
- Use cleaning chemicals correctly and store them safely
- Place warning signs when cleaning creates temporary hazards
Equipment and Materials
- Use brooms, mops, vacuums, pressure washers and industrial brushes correctly
- Keep cleaning equipment in good working condition
- Report damaged or faulty equipment
- Keep cleaning storage areas clean, organised and secure
- Inform the supervisor when cleaning materials are running low
Reporting
- Record completed cleaning duties where required
- Report spills, hazards and incidents immediately
- Assist with inspections and compliance checks
- Participate in daily workplace briefings
Working Conditions
The position may involve:
- Indoor and outdoor work
- Exposure to dust, mud, noise and changing weather conditions
- Working around trucks, tractors, loaders and other heavy machinery
- Bending, lifting, walking and standing for extended periods
- Wearing PPE such as safety boots, gloves and reflective clothing
