Transport Operations Opportunity
The City of Ekurhuleni is hiring a Dispatcher for Bus Services Operations Depots to coordinate daily bus operations, manage driver schedules and ensure buses are dispatched safely and on time. The role is suitable for candidates with transport operations experience, a valid PrDP licence and strong communication skills.

Job Purpose
The Dispatcher will support efficient public transport operations by coordinating bus departures, ensuring drivers report for duty, monitoring fleet availability and maintaining accurate operational records.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Valid Code C, EC or EC1 driver’s licence with PrDP
- 5 years’ access control experience
- Good communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch buses to ensure services operate on schedule
- Ensure bus drivers report for duty on time
- Communicate shift instructions and special trip information to drivers
- Ensure destination boards display correct information before departure
- Monitor bus availability for scheduled services
- Arrange replacement buses when breakdowns occur
- Ensure buses leave depots on time
- Confirm sufficient drivers are available for scheduled shifts
- Record departure times and kilometre readings
- Ensure drivers submit daily timesheets
- Inspect buses when returning to the depot
- Check that buses are clean and report damages or problems
- Oversee security guards on duty and report issues to management
