The Department of Water and Sanitation is hiring an Administrative Officer to provide administrative support within the Integrated Environmental Engineering Component. The role involves coordinating environmental programmes, managing records, supporting procurement processes and assisting with stakeholder engagements.

Requirements

  • National Diploma or Degree in Public Management or Administration
  • 1–3 years’ administrative experience
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Environmental management experience will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures
  • Basic financial management knowledge and understanding of PFMA
  • Knowledge of the National Water Act, National Environmental Management Act and related policies
  • Good communication skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ethical conduct and accountability

Main Duties

  • Provide administrative support to personnel in the Integrated Environmental Engineering Component
  • Assist with environmental compliance administration
  • Support access and use of government waterworks administration
  • Assist with environmental programmes and land administration
  • Maintain records and information management systems
  • Implement and maintain administrative procedures
  • Administer procurement processes according to departmental and SCM requirements
  • Maintain records of goods and services procured
  • Compile statistics and maintain registers
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, logistics and meetings
  • Support site visits and stakeholder engagements
  • Compile submissions and administrative reports when required
