Logistics Security Management Opportunity
Bidvest International Logistics is recruiting a Security Specialist to strengthen security operations and protect the organisation’s people, property and physical assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying security vulnerabilities, implementing preventative measures, managing security risks and ensuring compliance with security standards within a logistics and warehousing environment.
This role is suited to experienced security professionals with strong knowledge of security management, investigations, audits and compliance. The position focuses on improving security systems, managing risks and ensuring that security procedures are effectively implemented across operations.

Job Purpose
The Security Specialist will be responsible for reducing security risks by developing and maintaining security procedures, monitoring potential threats, conducting assessments and ensuring that company security standards are followed.
The role is focused on security management and compliance and is not a traditional security guard position.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Security Management Qualification will be an added advantage
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar security-related field
- Knowledge of security procedures, investigations and compliance standards
- Ability to work with security policies and operational procedures
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations
- Ensure security certifications and compliance requirements are maintained
- Develop, implement and enforce security policies and procedures
- Ensure security standards are applied across all areas of the organisation
- Ensure employees receive appropriate security training
- Manage security projects aimed at improving operational security
- Ensure operations comply with relevant legislation and security standards
- Manage third-party security service providers
- Communicate security information and updates throughout the organisation
- Implement additional security measures during increased threat periods
- Conduct security risk assessments with management
- Maintain communication with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders
- Collect, analyse and share security information with management
Audits and Investigations
- Conduct regular security inspections and audits
- Review security procedures and ensure they are correctly implemented
- Identify weaknesses and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate reported misconduct, criminal activities, threats and security incidents
- Maintain accurate investigation records
- Coordinate polygraph testing when required
Training and Procedures
- Develop security procedures and protocols
- Ensure security responsibilities are clearly defined
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Conduct security inductions for new employees
- Provide training to security staff
- Ensure training records are properly maintained
