Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to prevent theft wherever possible, minimise stock losses, ensure vehicles leaving the premises are correctly loaded and maintain a safe and secure environment for customers, employees and company property.
The Security Checker will support loss prevention efforts by monitoring goods movement, conducting checks, controlling access points and reporting any suspicious activities.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- 1 year relevant experience in a hardware or retail environment
- Ability to perform security checks and follow company procedures
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to identify irregularities and suspicious behaviour
- Professional communication skills
- Reliable and punctual
Key Responsibilities
Security and Loss Prevention
- Check all goods leaving the shop and yard
- Verify that products leaving the premises match sales documentation
- Check sales transactions and returned goods
- Identify and report suspicious activities
- Assist in preventing theft and stock losses
- Ensure security procedures are followed at all times
Customer and Vehicle Control
- Obtain signatures from credit customers where required
- Manage cash customer payments according to procedures
- Conduct vehicle checks before vehicles leave the premises
- Monitor and control boom movement
- Maintain visitor records by completing the visitor book daily

- Ensure good timekeeping and attendance
- Work closely with store employees and management
