About the Opportunity
The General Assistant (Food & Beverage) role supports kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, stock management, food presentation and maintaining cleanliness standards. The successful candidate will work alongside chefs and the kitchen team to ensure customers receive quality meals and service.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Matric qualification.
- Experience within the Food & Beverage industry.
Applicants should also be able to:
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards.
- Work well as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
Food Preparation and Kitchen Support
- Assisting chefs with food preparation and plating.
- Preparing food according to required standards.
- Ensuring orders are prepared and served on time.
- Maintaining good presentation of meals.
Stock Management
- Checking kitchen stock, including food items and ingredients.
- Ensuring stock is stored correctly.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting items that are running low.
- Maintaining stock rotation.
- Ensuring expired food is removed and disposed of correctly.
Cleaning and Hygiene
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, work surfaces, floors, walls, fridges and freezers.
- Maintaining a clean and safe food preparation environment.
- Ensuring kitchen areas are neat before the next shift.
- Following health and safety requirements.
Operations Support
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment.
- Recording wastage and breakages.
- Assisting with receiving stock.
- Performing additional kitchen support duties when required.
