About the Opportunity
The Tyre Serviceman role focuses on developing practical skills in tyre fitting, wheel maintenance and customer service. The successful candidate will work under supervision while learning how to safely fit, remove, repair and maintain tyres and related equipment according to company and safety procedures.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 National Certificate.
- Valid South African Code 08 driver’s licence.
Advantageous:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
- Valid South African Code 10 heavy vehicle driver’s licence.
Applicants should also have:
- Willingness to learn and develop tyre fitting skills.
- Ability to work under supervision.
- Good customer service attitude.
- Common sense and initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
Tyre Services
- Fitting and removing wheels from different types of vehicles.
- Mounting and removing tyre and rim assemblies.
- Repairing tyres and tubes according to procedures.
- Maintaining tyre pressures according to site requirements.
- Inspecting wheel components and checking suitability for use.
- Cleaning, painting and crack testing rim components.
Equipment and Operations
- Performing equipment checks and calibrations.
- Operating forklifts and tyre handlers according to procedures.
- Recording tyre changes and related information.
- Maintaining accurate service records.
- Completing additional duties when required.
Safety Responsibilities
- Following Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
- Using and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Reporting hazards, unsafe conditions and incidents.
- Performing vehicle pre-start checks.
- Operating tools and equipment safely.
- Participating in safety meetings and inspections.
- Following emergency procedures.
