About the Opportunity
The Storekeeper role is responsible for managing stock within a catering environment, including receiving deliveries, controlling inventory and ensuring food items and supplies are stored correctly. The successful candidate will support efficient kitchen operations through accurate stock management and compliance with hygiene standards.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Matric qualification.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent level of competence.
Experience and skills:
- 2–5 years’ experience in a similar storekeeping role.
- Experience in the hospitality industry.
- Experience with stock control and costing will be advantageous.
- Good food and beverage knowledge.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
Stock Management
- Receiving stock deliveries from suppliers.
- Managing stock levels and availability.
- Ordering food, resale and beverage items.
- Conducting weekly stock takes.
- Ensuring stock rotation is followed.
- Managing wastage and leftovers.
- Reporting product quality issues.
Store Operations
- Organising store operations and allocating responsibilities.
- Issuing stock from fridges, freezers, dry stores and chemical stores.
- Ensuring products are correctly stacked and date marked.
- Maintaining clean and organised storerooms.
- Protecting stock and equipment stored in the storeroom.
Administration and Cost Control
- Preparing and controlling store budgets.
- Ensuring accurate stock and meal costing.
- Receiving and processing invoices.
- Completing proper handovers when required.
Customer and Team Support
- Building relationships with suppliers and clients.
- Responding to customer complaints and compliments.
- Working as part of a team.
- Supporting other units when required.
