Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Receive, inspect and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Ensure stock is stored correctly and complies with food safety and company standards.
- Issue stock to operational departments according to approved requisitions and operational requirements.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with monthly stocktakes.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damaged goods and discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory management systems.
- Keep storerooms, freezers and refrigeration areas clean, organised and secure.
- Apply the First In, First Out (FIFO) principle when rotating stock.
- Assist with cost-control initiatives by reducing wastage and stock losses.
- Follow health, safety, food safety and company policies at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- At least two years of experience as a Storekeeper, Stock Controller or in a similar role.
- Relevant experience in hospitality, catering, retail or food service environments.
Skills and Competencies
Candidates should have the following skills and abilities:
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and stock management systems.
- A sound understanding of inventory control and stock management processes.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Good numerical and administrative skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
