Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
  • Grade 10 literacy level with verbal and numerical literacy
  • Valid Code EC driver’s licence with PrDP (DGP)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience driving an ultra-heavy vehicle
  • Must be 25 years or older
  • Ability to work weekends and public holidays

Candidates must also have knowledge of:

  • Defensive driving techniques
  • Vehicle components and functions
  • Emergency and defect reporting procedures
  • Vehicle inspections and fire extinguisher operation
  • Vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Vehicle loading techniques

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing vehicles for trips and operating ultra-heavy duty vehicles.
  • Loading, transporting and offloading goods.
  • Ensuring loads are correctly secured before departure.
  • Preventing vehicle overloading according to the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Operating offloading equipment or supervising the offloading process.
  • Completing required documentation and performing related administrative duties.
  • Conducting vehicle inspections and reporting defects or emergencies.
  • Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, uniform and PPE standards.
  • Following company SOPs and safety procedures.
  • Providing professional and efficient service to customers.
  • Following all reasonable instructions from supervisors.

Training and Assessments

Successful candidates must be willing to complete:

  • Medical evaluation
  • USCS training modules
  • Company induction processes
  • Practical driving evaluation
  • Criminal record verification
