Job Overview
Protea Hotel Bloemfontein Willow Lake is looking for a Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, cooking and maintaining high food quality standards to ensure guests receive excellent dining experiences.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / High School Diploma preferred
- At least 1 year of related cooking experience
- No supervisory experience required
- Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, weighing and measuring food items
- Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and hotel standards
- Prepare cold foods and assist with different kitchen requirements
- Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers
- Check food quality and ensure meals are cooked correctly
- Serve food in the correct portions and presentation standards
Kitchen Hygiene and Safety
- Clean and sanitise kitchen areas, tables, tools and equipment
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
- Check temperatures of food and kitchen equipment
- Follow company safety procedures
- Report maintenance issues, accidents or unsafe conditions
Team Support
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance
- Work with kitchen staff to achieve service goals
- Communicate professionally with team members
- Complete additional duties as requested by supervisors
