Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
- Full N2 qualification with the following four trade-specific subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- N2 Rigging Trade Theory
- Engineering Drawing
- Must be medically fit for the mining environment.
- Must pass a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre.
- Must pass Heat Tolerance Screening and any other assessments required to determine suitability.

Duties and Responsibilities
Learners will be responsible for:
- Completing technical training as prescribed by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and South Deep Gold Mine.
- Attending required short courses and development training.
- Maintaining consistent performance throughout the learnership.
- Taking initiative in personal development discussions.
- Seeking feedback to improve performance.
- Following company conditions of employment, policies and code of conduct.
- Following all mine health and safety rules and regulations.
- Promoting teamwork and working effectively with other team members.
- Wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on site or at the training centre.
