Grounds Maintenance Opportunity
The Department of Water and Sanitation is looking for a General Worker to assist with cleaning, grounds maintenance and basic repairs. The role is suitable for candidates with an ABET qualification who are comfortable with manual work, outdoor environments and maintaining gardens, canals and other government facilities.

Requirements
- ABET qualification
- Knowledge of general work involving equipment and appliances
- Basic knowledge of chemical use, mixing and dilution
- Basic maintenance knowledge for machines and equipment
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
- Basic garden maintenance knowledge
- Understanding of government legislation
- Good communication skills
Main Duties
- Clean and maintain grounds, canals and surrounding areas
- Assist with repairing tools, structures, fences, benches and canal areas
- Use hand tools and power tools when required
- Mix, spray or spread fertilisers using appropriate equipment
- Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and garden features
- Care for plants, trees and lawns
- Rake leaves and apply mulch
- Irrigate plants and lawns
- Sweep walkways and clean buildings
- Wash floors and maintain clean working areas
Working Environment
The position may require working outdoors in areas such as rivers, dams and canals. Candidates must be comfortable performing physical tasks and following health and safety procedures.
