Hospital Laundry Operations Opportunity

The Department of Health is hiring a Laundry Worker Level 2 to assist with hospital laundry operations, including cleaning laundry areas, operating laundry machines, sorting linen and preparing clean linen for distribution. The role is suitable for candidates with basic education who are physically fit, reliable and willing to work shifts.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will support the hospital laundry unit by ensuring that linen is properly cleaned, processed, packed and delivered while maintaining hygiene and operational standards.

Requirements

  • ABET or Grade 10 qualification
  • Hospital environment experience
  • Laundry experience will be advantageous
  • Understanding of laundry operations
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts, including night shifts when required
  • Ability to rotate between different laundry areas
  • Physically fit to perform demanding duties
  • Honest and reliable
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean laundry areas and laundry equipment
  • Operate laundry machines, including:
    • Washing machines
    • Dryers
    • Ironing machines
    • Pressers
  • Iron, fold, count and pack cleaned linen
  • Seal linen bags for distribution
  • Collect and deliver linen to clients
  • Sort, count and record dirty linen
  • Maintain cleanliness and order within the laundry area
  • Report faulty or damaged machines to the supervisor
  • Perform other laundry duties as instructed by the supervisor
