Sedibeng District Municipality is offering five positions through its Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme. The programme provides structured professional training and practical workplace experience in the Municipal Budget and Treasury Office.

This is a strong opportunity for graduates who want to build a career in municipal finance, accounting, economics, auditing, risk management or related fields while gaining practical experience in local government.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is suitable for candidates who:

  • Are between 21 and 35 years old
  • Have completed a relevant three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma
  • Studied Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Economics, Auditing or a related field
  • Want to gain practical experience in municipal financial management

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have at least a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma with majors in areas such as:

  • Finance
  • Accounting
  • Risk Management
  • Economics
  • Auditing
  • Other relevant fields

The programme combines an employment contract with an internship agreement. Interns are expected to participate fully in educational and workplace assignments and comply with municipal policies and procedures.

Internship Overview

The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme is designed to provide professional training and practical exposure to different aspects of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office.

The programme is governed by the Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003, together with the relevant reforms and training requirements.

The programme follows a structured training sequence designed to develop skills and competencies acquired through university or technical studies.

Successful completion of the programme leads to a Municipal Finance Management qualification in line with the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels.

Remuneration

Interns will receive between R90,000 and R100,000 per year, depending on the year of internship.
