The successful candidates will provide basic nursing care and support to patients while maintaining professional standards and contributing to the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Requirements

Applicants must have a qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Auxiliary/Enrolled Nursing Assistant.

  • Current SANC licence to practise for 2026 is required.
  • Applicants must meet the professional registration requirements applicable to the position.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing basic nursing care and assisting nursing staff in maintaining the wellbeing and comfort of patients.

Duties include:

  • Maintaining patient hygiene.
  • Providing nutrition and assisting patients with feeding where required.
  • Assisting patients with mobility.
  • Assisting with elimination processes.
  • Providing elementary nursing care.
  • Measuring, interpreting and recording patients’ vital signs.
  • Operating relevant apparatus and equipment.
  • Assisting with clinical procedures.
  • Preparing patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures.
  • Maintaining professional growth and ethical standards.
  • Participating in self-development and learning opportunities.
  • Attending in-service training and relevant courses.
  • Maintaining the required public service and professional code of conduct.
  • Relieving in other wards when necessary.
  • Escorting patients to other healthcare facilities to support continuity of quality care.

Working Conditions

Successful candidates must be willing to work both day and night shifts. Candidates may also be required to work in different wards and escort patients to other facilities when necessary.
