Rand Water is recruiting three Process Control Assistants to join its Bulk Water Services – Operations team at the Zwartkopjes site in Johannesburg South. About The Opportunity
The Process Control Assistant plays an important support role within Rand Water’s operational environment. The position focuses on maintaining safe and clean plant facilities while assisting with basic operational tasks under the guidance of Process Controllers and supervisors.
This role provides an opportunity for candidates to gain exposure to water purification operations, plant safety procedures and industrial workplace practices.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Water Treatment / Blue Drop requirements knowledge will be advantageous.
- 1 year cleaning experience will be advantageous.
Knowledge And Experience
The following will be advantageous:
- Exposure to water purification processes.
- Experience working in a plant, industrial or operational environment.
On-the-job training will be provided.

Duties And Responsibilities
The successful candidates will assist with:
Plant Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Maintaining cleanliness across all plant areas.
- Cleaning allocated sections of the plant.
- Ensuring good housekeeping standards in areas such as:
- Engine rooms.
- Control rooms.
- Battery rooms.
- Toilets.
- Switchgear rooms.
Safety Monitoring
- Reporting unsafe acts and unsafe working conditions.
- Reporting abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor.
- Following workplace safety procedures and requirements.
Process Control Support
- Assisting Process Controllers with operational activities.
- Assisting with putting pumps on load and taking pumps off load.
- Opening and closing suction and delivery valves.
- Performing manual operation of pipeline isolating valves.
Water Operations Support
- Taking water samples.
- Assisting with unloading chlorine drums.
- Assisting with unloading ammonia.
