About The Opportunity
The Workshop Assistant – Electrical role provides an opportunity for candidates with electrical knowledge and experience to gain further exposure within an industrial maintenance environment.
The successful applicant will support electrical maintenance work, assist with repairs, perform minor installations and ensure that electrical equipment remains operational and safe.
This position requires someone who is safety-conscious, detail-oriented and able to work effectively with technical teams.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / N3 certificate.
- NQF Level 4 Electrical Engineering certificate.
- 2 years’ working experience in the electrical field.
- Valid Code EB or C1 driver’s licence.
- Ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driving assessment.
- Trade Test Certificate will be advantageous.

Duties And Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
Electrical Maintenance Support
- Assisting Artisans with maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Performing minor electrical installations within the plant and workshops.
- Supporting the maintenance of electrical systems to ensure equipment availability.
Electrical Installation & Repairs
- Installing new cables.
- Digging trenches and assisting with cable installations.
- Strapping cables and installing cable racks.
- Repairing damaged equipment such as geysers, stoves, heaters and ovens.
- Replacing faulty plugs, lights and isolators.
Testing & Fault Finding
- Testing low voltage cables and motors.
- Locating electrical faults using testing equipment.
- Conducting cable joints and fault finding activities.
Workshop Support
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards.
- Collecting electrical spares from suppliers and stores.
- Following safety procedures and workplace instructions.
