Kumba Iron Ore is hiring a Protection Officer to protect company property, assets and employees by providing specialised security services within a mining environment. The role involves close protection, tactical response, investigations, security patrols and managing high-risk security situations.

Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Security-related National Certificate (NQF 4)
- Security-related Higher National Certificate (NQF 5) advantageous
- PSIRA Grade B registration
- Firearm competency with SAPS competency
- Basic Investigations Course
- Valid driver’s licence
- 3–5 years’ relevant security/safety experience, preferably in mining
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Tactical response experience
- Knowledge of criminal investigations
- Knowledge of firearms and less lethal weapons
- Understanding of riot control and strike management techniques
Main Duties
- Provide close protection services to executives, senior managers and VIP visitors
- Respond to security incidents, criminal activity and alarms
- Conduct crime scene investigations and preserve evidence
- Interview witnesses and maintain investigation records
- Manage high-risk crowds and unrest situations
- Conduct vehicle patrols and security inspections
- Perform searches and prohibited substance testing
- Identify security risks and compile reports
- Conduct security audits and surveys
- Ensure protection services operations are effectively managed
